:: General aim

The passage from traditional technologies to new technologies with high efficiency (enabling technologies) asks for a target planning and more target oriented components, generally molecular based, so to characterize the necessary functionalities to develop new products or new services (multifunctional materials).

In such context the Department has individualized in the "chemical manufacturing" the fundamental mean to plan and to set molecules, macromolecules or systems organized with correlated specific functionality to the molecular ownerships of organic, inorganic and hybrid mixtures and the cooperative ownerships of layers or simple or composite film or macromolecules. The action of the Department will be focused for the pursuit of the general objective followings:
- Individualization of the project objectives in coherence with those of some European Technological Bases as Sustainable Chemistry, Advanced Engineering Materials and Technologies, Nanomedicine, European Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology;
- Expansion of the connection with the National University System through the start and the execution of common projects with the Intercollegiate Consortia INSTM and CSGI, as well as through the creation near them of research unities of CNR;

- Contribution to the creation of new opportunities for the technological development of the Country, operating with specific actions within the framework accords with the Associations of Enterprises and the Great Enterprises (what to es. FEDERCHIMICA, FINMECCANICA); - Expansion of the internationalization of the more promising activities of search not only through a best share to the Programs of the EU, but also by launching various organizational forms at European level;
- Expansion of the relationship with the territory above all through the Technological Districts of interest and the participation to Consortia of Research;
- Contribution to the best definition and execution of some interdepartmental projects as for ex. Sustainable chemistry and Medicine;
- Offering opportunities of insertion and growth to new levers of young researchers.
